War service: Egypt, Western Front Found guilty, 19 January 1916, of neglect of standing order: admonished. Transferred to 5th Division Infantry, 3 April 1916. Embarked Aexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 19 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 25 June 1916. On leave to England, 5 December 1916; rejoined unit from leave, 22 December 1916. On leave to Paris, 5 January 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 15 January 1918. Found guilty, 18 January 1918, of being absent without leave from 10 am, 12 January, to 10 am, 15 January 1918: awarded 4 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited a total of 8 days' pay.
