War service: Egypt Embarked Sydney, 30 April 1918; disembarked Suez, 7 June 1918. Taken on strength, 38th Company, Australian Mounted Division Train, 25 July 1918, and appointed Driver. Found guilty, 28 September 1918, of when on Active Service conduct to the prejudice of good order and Military discipline, in that he appeared on parade (Guard Mounting) with a dirty rifle: awarded 4 extra guards. Admitted to 21st General Hospital, Alexandria, 30 November 1918 (malaria); transferred to Convalescent Hospital, Montazah, 7 December 1918; discharged to duty, 6 January 1919. Appointed Temporary 2nd Lieutenant as from 27 May 1919. Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board HT 'Burma', 26 July 1919; appointment terminated (discharged)(termination of period of enlistment), Adelaide, 12 September 1919.
