Proceeded overseas to France,4 June 1917; taken on strength, 48th Bn, in the field, 21 June 1917, and allotted Regimental Number 3126A. Detached for duty to 4th Australian Division, 21 September 1917; rejoined unit from detachment, 2 October 1917. Wounded in action, 8 July 1918 (gun shot wound, nose and arm); admitted to LofC Hospital, 11 July 1918; transferred to England, and admitted to 3rd Southern General Hospital, Oxford, 13 July 1918; transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 17 July 1918; discharged to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 22 July 1918.
