'Near JEANCOURT on 18th September, 1918, Bombardier BROWN did excellent and gallant work in running a line to the front posts regardless of hostile machine gun and constant shell fire. By his fearlessness and gallantry in patrolling and mending a line which was often the only one available for both artillery and infantry messages he maintained touch with the infantry and Battalion Headquarters thoughout the advance until the final objective was reached.'
