Distinguished Conduct Medal 'During the attack on Mont St. Quentin on the 1 September, 1918, he displayed great gallantry and resource. The advance of his company was held up and severe casualties caused by a strong enemy party. He rushed forward with his gun under heavy machine gun fire, attacked the enemy killing two and disabling the gun.'
