Admitted to No 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, Cairo, 2 February 1916 (venereal disease: gonorrhoea); transferred to No 4 Auxiliary Hospital, Cairo, 5 February 1916; to No 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, Cairo, 22 February 1916; discharged, 29 March 1916, and marched into Overseas Base the same day.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 7 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 14 June 1916.

Proceeded to unit from 4th Australian Divisional Base Depot, 20 September 1916; taken on strength of 14th Bn, in the field, 29 September 1916.

Posted as missing in action, 11 April 1917.
