Evacuated from 13th Casualty Clearing Station, Gallipoli, on board HS 'Guildford Castle', to Mudros, 20 September 1915. Transferred to No. 2 General Hospital, Gezireh, Egypt, 25 September 1915; discharged to British Red Cross Convalescent Hospital, Montasah, 27 September 1915. Returned to unit, Tel-el-Kebir, 12 January 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 15 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 21 March 1916.

Wounded in action, 29 July 1916 (gun shot wound, right knee and arm). Transferred to England, 17 November 1916, and admitted to No. 3 London General Hospital, Wandsworth, 18 November 1916.

Discharged from hospital and commenced return to Australia on board 'Kanowna' from Southampton, 14 January 1917; disembarked Brisbane, 8 March 1917; discharged, 11 April 1917.
