War service: Western Front Embarked Melbourne on HMAT 'Nestor', 28 February 1918; disembarked Liverpool, 20 April 1918; marched into Australian Reporting and Drafting Depot, Longmoor, 21 April 1918. Proceeded to France through Folkestone, 5 June 1918; marched into Australian General Base Depot, Rouelles, 7 June 1918; moved out to field, 12 June 1918; taken on strength of 2nd Australian Light Railway Operating Company, 17 June 1918; detached to 1st Australian Divisional Light Railway, 10 September 1918; rejoined unit from detachment, 10 October 1918; detached to FLR Training School, 13 October 1918; rejoined unit from detachment, 19 October 1918; proceeded to United Kingdom on leave, 28 February 1919. Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, whilst on leave, 14 March 1919 (venereal disease); discharged to Convalescent Training Depot, Parkhouse, 23 May 1919 (total period of treatment for venereal disease: 70 days); marched into No 3 Group, Codford, 3 June 1919; moved out from group, 24 July 1919; granted indefinite leave, 25 September 1919.
