Wounded in action, 8 May 1918 (gun shot wound, right arm and thigh: slight), and admitted to 61st Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 12th General Hospital, Rouen, 9 May 1918; to England, 21 May 1918, and admitted to 3rd Southern General Hospital, Oxford, 22 May 1918; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 17 July 1918; discharged on furlough, 14 August 1918, to report to No 2 command Depot, Weymouth, 28 August 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Borda', 20 October 1918; disembarked Sydney, ca. 19 December 1918; discharged (medically unfit), 21 March 1920.
