Military Medal

'During the operations West of BELLENGLISE on the 18th/19th September, 1918. for great courage and devotion to duty and the example set to his section. During the exploitation of the final objection on afternoon of the 18th, he, by his skilful selection of positions and disregard for enemy machine gun fire, greatly assisted the advance over open country. In the night attack he led his section with dash, gallantry and initiative, and was of the utmost value all through the operations.'
