Military Medal 'This N.C.O. during the attack East of VILLERS BRETONNEUX, near AMIENS, on the morning of the 8th August 1918, and again on the afternoon of the 9th August, displayed great personal bravery in laying and maintaining lines. During the attack on the morning of the 11th August 1918, the enemy placed a heavy barrage on the route through which our lines ran to the 28th Battalion. This N.C.O. proceeded to mend these lines, and in spite of the number of breaks and the heavy enemy fire, persisted at his work with exceptional bravery until line communication was once more established with this Battalion.'
