Military Medal 'During the advance on 29th September, in the vicinity of NAUROY, this man displayed considerable initiative and devotion to duty. Whilst advancing with his Machine Gun Section, he realised that the Infantry's left flank was exposed. He skilfully moved his gun to a position of much tactical importance, under heavy machine gun fire and engaged enemy machine gun nests, inflicting heavy casualties and thus facilitating the advance of the Infantry. Later on he engaged and silenced an enemy light Field Gun, which was also hindering our advance.'
