Military Medal

'During the attack east of MONT. ST. QUENTIN near PERONNE, on 2nd September 18918, this N.C.O. was in charge of a section. When seven machine gun posts were giving serious trouble, he with great dash led his section through heavy fire, and put the guns out of action, killing or capturing the crews, thus materially assisting the advance, and saving many casualties.'
