Military Medal 'For devotion to duty as a Stretcher Bearer during an enemy attack on our lines on April 3rd, 1918, near Albert. During a heavy bombardment prior to the attack Private Burdon did exceptionally good work. His Company had sustained many casualties and he repeastedly carried the wounded to places of safety, climbing up and down a steep muddy embankment during Artillery and Machine Gun fire until completely exhausted.'
