Disembarked Egypt, 26 July 1915. Admitted to No 2 Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 11 September 1915 (influenza); discharged, fit for active service, 26 October 1915. Marched in to Advanced Base, Mudros, 18 November 1915. admitted to Stationary Hospital, Mudros, 8 December 1915 (sciatica); discharged to Base Convalescent Camp, 14 December 1915; admitted to St Patrick's Hospital, Malta, 25 December 1915; discharged to Mellika Camp Hospital, Malta, 11 February 1916. Admitted to No 3 Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 28 March 1916 (hernia); transferred to No 1 Auxiliary Hospital, 28 March 1916; discharged, and taken on strength, 60th Bn, Duntroon Plateau, 20 April 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 29 June 1916. Transferred to 57th Bn, 15 July 1916; taken on strength, 57th Bn, 26 July 1916.

Wounded in action, 21 July 1916 (gun shot wound, knee), and admitted to No 3 Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne; transferred to England, 24 July 1916, and admitted to Middlesex War Hospital, Napsbury, 25 July 1916; to No 1 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield (date not recorded); discharged to No 4 Command Depot, Wareham, 10 November 1916.

Reported absent, 8 December 1916. Declared an illegal Absentee by Court on Enquiry, 14 February 1917. Discharged in consequence of being an Illegal Absentee.
