Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty. On 5 April 1918, at Buire, a post of which he was in command maintained its position covering a bridge over the Ancre in spite of repeated attacks which were launched after heavy artillery preparation. During these attacks, he personally accounted for ten of the enemy.'
