War service: Egypt, Western Front Admitted to 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital, Canal Zone, 27 April 1916 (venereal disease: gonorrhoea); transferred to No 4 Hospital Train, 28 April 1916, and admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Abbassia, 28 April 1916; discharged to Details, 8 June 1916; total period of treatment for venereal disease [syphilis]: 43 days). Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, France, 2 August 1916. Taken on strength, 24th Bn, in the field, Belgium, 2 October 1916.
