Admitted to 18th General Hospital, Camiers, 18 July 1916; discharged to base details, 7 August 1916; marched into 2nd Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 3 September 1916. Admitted to 26th General Hospital, Etaples, 3 September 1916 (tachycardia). Embarked Calais on HS 'Dieppe' and proceeded to England; admitted to St. Luke's War Hospital, Halifax, 9 September 1916; discharged to duty, 9 October 1916; marched out from No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, to 73rd Draft, Wareham, 2 November 1916; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 7 March 1917; moved out from Weymouth, 6 April 1917.

Embarked Devonport and commenced return to Australia on HS 'Themistocles', 4 May 1917; disembarked Melbourne, 2 July 1917. Discharged as being medically unfit for service, Melbourne, 2 August 1917 (dilated action heart, tachycardia).
