Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and fine leadership during the attack on Peronne, 1 September, 1918. He took command of the company after its officers had become casualties, rallied the men, and made a dash on to a machine gun nest, capturing three guns, twenty five prisoners and killing several of the enemy himself.'
