Military Medal 'During the period 29th September/1st October in the operations carried out by this Battalion in the BELLICOURT SECTOR Private BURNS, Headquarters Runner, displayed great bravery and devotion to duty. During the three days he carried many messages to Coys. at times under very heavy shell and machine gun fire and his work was of the utmost assistance to the Battalion Commander.'
