War service: Egypt, Western Front Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force (date not recorded); disembarked Marseilles, France, 7 May 1916. Transferred to No 1 Mining Company, 13 May 1916. Admitted to 138th Field Ambulance, 21 June 1916 (dysentery); transferred to North Midlands Casualty Clearing Station, 24 June 1916; rejoined unit, 2 July 1916. Admitted to 6th London Field Ambulance, 27 October 1916 (conjunctivitis); transferred to 13th Stationary Hospital, 29 October 1916; to Base Details, 4 November 1916; rejoined unit, in the field, 23 November 1916. Wounded in action, 30 January 1917 (gun shot wound, left cheek: slight), and admitted to 70th Field Ambulance; discharged and rejoined unit, 3 February 1917. Found guilty, 18 August 1917, of while on Active Service overstaying leave, London, from 10 am, 15 August, till 10 am, 16 August 1917: forfeited 7 days' pay. Killed in action, 6 September 1917.
