'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This man has rendered continuously good service as battery signaller, distinguishing himself by his courage and high example of devotion to duty. On one occasion, in the F.O.P., his officer was killed, but he continued to maintain communications with unflinching determination until he was relieved by another officer.'
