Military Medal

'At MORLANCOURT on night 28/29th July 1918. Conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty. This soldier was a volunteer Stretcher Bearer from Headquarters Details and worked throughout our attack and capture of enemy system, constantly under heavy shell and Machine Gun fire. Without rest this man under great difficulties laboured on until all the wounded had been brought in. He showed a total disregard of danger and continued his duties of carrying in wounded all during the following day. This soldier never ceased his work until all were brought in, by which time he was thoroughly exhausted. He displayed courage and devotion to duty.'
