War service: Western Front Embarked Melbourne, 25 October 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 28 December 1916; marched in to No 2 Camp, Reserve Brigade Australian Artillery, Larkhill, 29 December 1916. Transferred to 36th Heavy Artillery Group, 30 May 1917. Transferred to 338th Siege Battery, 24 June 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 12 July 1917. Taken on strength, 54th Siege Battery, 19 July 1917. Wounded in action, 5 October 1917 (gun shot wound, left buttock), and admitted to 58th Field Ambulance, and transferred to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to duty, 4 December 1917; rejoined 1st Siege Battery, 6 December 1917. On leave to United Kingdom, 23 August 1918; rejoined unit from leave. On leave to Paris, 29 December 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 8 January 1919. Proceeded to England, 4 March 1919, for return to Australia.
