Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous courage, energy, and devotion to duty when working with camel convoys. The bad weather and cold had reduced the morale of the native drivers and the capacity of the camels to the lowest ebb, but, almost unaided, for the officer in charge had been taken to hospital, he brought the camels through, and remained with the stragglers, collecting and camping them for the night, until he himself was rendered unconscious by cold and exposure. His gallant conduct was most praiseworthy.'
