Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry during the attack on Peronne, 1 September, 1918, when he dashed through a gap in the enemy wire in order to enfilade a strong point. He thus allowed the remainder of his platoon to get through without casualties and rush the post. Two guns and eight prisoners were captured, and the rest of the garrison killed.'
