Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of his company after all the officers of the company had become casualties. He led the company throughout the attack, and on reaching the objective showed marked ability in reorganizing and making his dispositions. Despite heavy shell fire, the reports he sent back to battalion headquarters were remarkably accurate and complete.'
