War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Embarked Adelaide on HMAT 'Port Lincoln', 1 April 1915; taken on strength from reinforcements, Gallipoli, 5 June 1915. Found guilty at Gallipoli, 14 June 1915, of insubordinate conduct, 13 June 1915: awarded 3 days' Field Punishment No 1. Admitted to Hospital, Mudros, 24 November 1915. Disembarked from HS 'Grampian', Alexandria, 4 January 1916. Found guilty at Tel-el-Kebir, 5 January 1916, of being absent without leave, 25 December 1915: awarded 8 days' detention; forfeited total of 12 days' pay. Found guilty at Tel-el-Kebir, 28 January 1916, of breaking camp whilst on active service, tattoo, 23 January, to 9.15 pm, 24 January 1916: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2; forfeited total of 3 days' pay. Transferred to 50th Bn, 26 February 1916, and taken on strength, Tel-el-Kebir, 27 February 1916.
