Wounded in action, 1-8 May 1915 (gun shot wound, shoulder and abdomen), and admitted to HS 'Royal George'; transferred to 17th General Hospital, Alexandria, 13 May 1915; to No 1 Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis, 14 May 1915; to Benha Government Hospital, 6 June 1915; discharged to Convalescent Camp, Mustapha, 26 June 1915, and admitted, 30 June 1915; to Convalescent Hospital, Helouan, 29 July 1915. Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board HT 'Themistocles', 15 August 1915; discharged (medically unfit), Melbourne, 20 December 1915.
