Military Medal

'This N.C.O. displayed conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty while in charge of 'A' Company signallers under most trying circumstances during the operations near MORLANCOURT on 29th July 1918. During the night of the attack and the next night the telephone lines were cut four times. This courageous N.C.O. utterly regardless of his own safety, repaired the breaks during a very heavy barrage. It is solely due to his splendid example and energy that communication was maintained the whole time between his Company and Battalion Headquarters.'
