Military Medal 'At HERMIES, FRANCE, on 15th April 1917 for conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty, during an enemy attack Pte. CARR carried urgent messages through an intense barrage to a post 1000 yards in front on support line. Twice this runner went out, the ground being swept by rifle and gun fire the whole time. He sets a splendid example of gallantry.'
