'Displayed splendid courage in action near ZONEBEKE on 26th September, 1917. The advance was checked by a strong enemy Pillbox position. This N.C.O. worked his Section round with great dash and after disposing of the enemy, continued the advance. Throughout the operations his work was most praiseworthy.'
