Joined 7th Bn at Gallipoli, 5 August 1915. Wounded in action, 11 August 1915, and admitted to Australian Casualty Clearing Station (bomb wound, arm). Admitted to Hospital Ship 'Neuralia', 12 August 1915; transferred to 1st Australian General Hospital, Cairo, 16 August 1916; to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Cairo, 16 August 1916. Rejoined unit, 4 November 1915. Admitted to 2nd Field Ambulance, 22 December 1915 (bullet wound, right hand); transferred to 3rd Australian General Hospital (Lemnos); embarked on HS 'Carisbrooke Castle', 9 January 1916; disembarked Alexandria, 11 January 1916, and admitted to 21st General Hospital, 11 January 1916; transferred to Ras el Tin Convalescent Depot, 13 January 1916; discharged to duty, 7 February 1916; rejoined Bn, Serapeum, 22 February 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 26 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 31 March 1916.

Wounded in action, France, 22-25 July 1916; admitted to 1st Field Ambulance, 25 July 1916 (gun shot wound, head, chest, shoulder and hand); died of wounds, 25 July 1916.

Buried at Warloy-Baillon Military Cemetery by Rev S.J. Gosling (1/4 Royal Berkshire Regiment).
