On two occasions the party was heavily shelled, both with HE and mustard gas. Sergeant ELLIS and Sapper CASSIDY remained fully exposed through-out the jointing of the cable and the repairing of the breaks. By the personal courage and absolute disregard of danger displayed, he set a fine example to the digging party.'
