Military Medal 'In the counter-attack near DERNANCOURT South West of ALBERT on night of 5th April 1918 this soldier was No. 1 of a Lewis Gun Team in the second wave. When all members of the team had become casualties except the Section Commander, he rushed his gun up into a forward position and commenced to fire it, thereby materially assisting in subduing the enemy fire. From the commencement of the attack until he was wounded at about 2 a.m. on 6th April, he displayed commendable courage and foresight.'
