Military Medal 'On morning of 11th April, 1917 near BULLECOURT Castle, who is a Company Cook remained at his Cookhouse in Aviondale Valley and immediately the wounded came through he served all men with tea or cocoa. This particular position was subjected to a most severe artillery bombardment but Castle stood by his fire and continued serving drinks to all men who needed it. His conduct was most meritorious and worthy of some consideration. he is recommended for highly meritorious conduct.'
