War service: Egypt, Western Front Taken on strength of 14th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 4 March 1916. Transferred to, and taken on strength of 12th Field Artillery Bde, 16 March 1916; mustered as a gunner, 16 March 1916, and posted to 47th Battery the same day. Evacuated to hospital, 20 March 1916 (mumps); admitted to No 4 Auxiliary Hospital, 24 March 1916; marched into Australian Overseas Base, Cairo, 28 March 1916. Mustered as a Driver, 12 Field Artillery Bde, 1 May 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 3 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 9 June 1916.
