'For bravery and devotion to duty from 12th to 23rd April, 1918, Private CAUSE did splendid work as a runner during the operations at STRAZEELE and was constantly carrying messages through very hevy shell fire. On the night 16th/17th April, 1918, immediately after the Battalion advanced he carried back an important message from the front line through heavy barrage fire and then returned to Company through the same barrage.'
