Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was in charge of a convoy on a road heavily shelled by the enemy, and found the whole of the traffic held up on account of the road being blocked. He organized parties to clear the road and personally controlled the traffif until all the transport was clear. During his tour of duty in the forward area he was brought to notice on several ocasions for the fine example he set his men and his capable handling of difficult situations under fire.'
