Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at St. Martin's Wood on 23rd August, 1918. He led twelve men forward in the face of heavy machine gun and shell fire 300 yards in front of our line, and succeded in estahlishing a post. It was owing to his determined leading that this was accomplished.'
