Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty from 25th February to 16th September, 1918. Sergeant CHINNERY, in carrying out his duties, has shown fine soldierly qualities of decision, coolness under fire and at all times devotion to even the smallest of his duties. On the night of 15th September, 1918, when the Battery was subjected to considerable enemy fire an ammunition dump was set alight. Acting with promptness and energy Sergeant CHINNERY, though suffering from painful burns from a bursting shell, completed alone the task of extinguishing the flames.'
