Military Medal 'During the attack on the BEAUREVOIR Line, east of PERONNE, on 3rd October, 1918, the platoon to which this man belonged was suddenly fired on by a machine gun (which had come up out of a dugout) from very close range. His rifle was empty, but he immediately rushed the gun position, bayoneting part of the crew, the remainder surrendering to him. He then bombed the dugout, killing three and capturing five more of the enemy.'
