War service: Egypt, Western Front Allotted to, and proceeded to 58th Bn from 6th Training Bn, Zeitoun, 23 February 1916; taken on strength of 58th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 23 February 1916. Admitted to No 15 Field Ambulance, Tel el Kebir, 8 March 1916 (tonsilitis); transferred to No 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, Tel el Kebir, 9 March 1916; discharged and rejoined unit, 17 March 1916. Transferred to 59th Bn, 24 March 1916; taken on strength of 59th Bn, 24 March 1916. Found guilty, 27 March 1916, or being absent from parade between 1400 hours and 1600 hours: awarded 4 hours' pack drill and 1 week's fatigue. Sick to hospital, 30 March 1916; rejoined unit, 1 April 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916.
