Military Medal 'On 6th August, 1916, at POZIERES this N.C.O. led a volunteer party to bring in wounded who were still lying out under heavy fire and though four of his party were wounded he returned to see that the rest of his party came back safely with their patients. The success which attended this volunteer party was almost entirely due to his leadership.'
