Military Medal 'Near ZONNEBEKE on the night of 20th October, 1917, this N.C.O. displayed great resource and devotion to duty in the face of very heavy enemy shelling, both with H.E. and gas shells. He was in charge of horsed transport engaged in carrying R.E. stores forward and by his example encouraged his men to persevere with the work, this resulting in a large quantity of stores being delivered at the forward dump. On previous and subsequent nights he was employed on similar work and was of great assistance to his officer.'
