Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry at GUEUDECOURT on the morning of 21st February, 1917, during an attack on enemy's Strong Point and trenches. He was in command of a squad of men with blankets to throw over the enemy's wire. He went forward under cover o the Stokes gun barrage and took up a position close to the enemy's wire to watch the result of the Stokes shells to select a damaged point to rush. Immediately the barrage lifted he rushed forward under enemy rifle and bomb fire and successfully threw blankets over their wire. By his coolness and utter disregard for danger he greatly assisted the attacking party in entering the enemy's trench without delay.'
