Military Medal

'During the operations of this Battalion near BELLICOURT from 29th September/1st October Lance Corporal CLARK displayed much gallantry, courage and initiative. On one occasion seeing some of the enemy in a village in a position very dangerous to the safety of his platoon by reason of the flank being exposed to their fire, he on his own initiative entered the village surprising the enemy and single handed capturing a number of prisoners. Right through the whole advance Lance Corporal CLARK's work was excellent and deserving of the highest praise.'
