'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 23 August 1918, near Foncancourt, in charge of limbers moving through St. Martin's Wood to the battalion dump. He made three separate trips under H.E. and gasd shelling, bringing the limbers through, though the horses were almost unmanageable. His courage and determination insured the supply of rations and ammunition.'
