War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney on HMAT 'Benalla', 1 May 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 9 July 1916. Marched out to Fargo Military Hospital, 10 August 1916; admitted to military Hospital, 11 August 1916 (pleurisy). Found guilty, 2 October 1916, of being absent without leave, 9.00 am, 27 September, to 12.00 pm, 1 October 1916: awarded 10 days' Field Punishment No 2; forfeited total of 5 days' pay. Marched into 9th Training Bn, Durrington, from 3rd Division details, 12 December 1916; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 9 February 1917; moved out for return to Australia, 6 April 1917.
