Bar to Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Near BELLICOURT on 29th September this N.C.O. displayed the greatest courage and coolness during an enemy counter attack. He organised and personally led a party of bombers, drove back the enemy and succeeded in establishing a bombing block which he continued to hold until severely wounded. His prompt action and bold leadership were the means of relieving a critical situation and were a splendid example to all.'
